Quality Control Experience
As a shift supervisor at NEI Parsons, who at that time were a Meehanite licensed foundry and had a world-class quality control system, provided Clive with invaluable knowledge and understanding of quality systems.
After achieving apprenticeships in a Laboratory, Clive continued his career and branched out into mechanical testing, sand testing and NDT departments. Here was the start of Clive acquiring knowledge as to the metallurgy, methods and production of these materials, which led him to study Metallurgy.
He had always been interested in computing and had often built his own PC. His previous company was looking for a fully integrated database system and Clive was offered the opportunity as IT Manager to install a network and create a bespoke database for them.
After increasing foreign competition, this company transferred its larger cast iron work to a new foundry and Clive became their Case Iron foundry manager. The foundry carried out methoding shop floor quality and gaining ISO 9000 approval for the new cast iron business; but the real challenge was producing cast iron from direct arc furnaces.
During Clive's career he has undertaken a variety of roles and responsibilities from foundry manager to a year later becoming General Manager and from a metals manager to a methods engineer.
